Capital Campaign
Capital campaigns occur only once or twice a decade and are directed at raising funds for specific projects like buildings. We are in the final stages of our most recent capital campaign, Building on Success, to construct our new facility.
The McGillis School outgrew our facility faster than we could have imagined in 2003, when we first settled into the historic Douglas school building. Enrollment has soared in the past six years from 131 students in August 2003 to 283 students in August 2009.
Six years ago, the families and friends of The McGillis School came together to build a school that enabled a program that recognizes the gifts each child has to offer. Soaring growth impacts every aspect of school life: from the need for more classrooms, a larger dining hall and space for seating at our “standing room only” assemblies, to storage for our rich and vibrant learning modules that enable the children to “move” from the desert to the arctic, from Europe to South America. As The McGillis School grows, so does our need for a larger library and for enhanced programs in athletics and the arts.
This journey of Building on Success will discover areas of opportunity for McGillis students eager to realize their full potential of this academically vigorous K-8 community. We invite everyone to support the most exciting, ambitious campaign in the brief history of The McGillis School. Construction is underway for our 54,000 square foot expansion, scheduled to open in August 2010, your support is critical to reach our goal.
