AfterSchool Program

The McGillis Afterschool Program is a thriving environment that encourages social, creative, and academic growth in a post school-day setting. Our goal is to curate an environment that hat fosters exploration and growth beyond the classroom through exciting programs and authentic care for children.

Lower School Program

Our AfterSchool Program is available for students Kindergarten through 5th grade, Monday through Friday, from 2:45 - 6:00 P.M. At the conclusion of the regular school day, participating students immediately check in with AfterSchool Staff in the dining hall where they join their grade level group (Kindergarten, 1st - 2nd, or 3rd - 5th) for the afternoon. Once grouped, students have a snack, head outside to play or get ready to attend an enrichment class opportunity. Those who choose to stay in the program for general activity time will take part in indoor/outdoor games, an art project, read independently in the library or take part in a supervised homework block.

Middle School Program

Our Middle School AfterSchool Program is available for students 6th through 8th grade, Monday through Friday, from 3:15 - 6:00 P.M. At the conclusion of the regular school day, participating students immediately check in with AfterSchool Staff in the Dining Hall where they join their group leaders for the afternoon. Once grouped, students have a snack, head outside for some fresh air, or get a jump on their homework. Although this group is somewhat independent of the Lower School program, Middle School students are still required to sign in to the program.

Cost/Check-out Policy

The program is $8 per hour (billed at $2 per 15 minute increment.) Billing time for lower school students begins at 3:15 & 3:30 P.M. for middle school students. Beyond these times your children will only be billed for the time they are signed into the program. If your child takes part in activities outside of enrichment classes such as tutoring or private music lessons, please convey this the AfterSchool Director via email so that we may track the time accurately. Program check out takes place in our dining hall. Only those authorized on the registration form will be allowed to pickup your child.

AfterSchool Enrichment Program

In addition to our regular AfterSchool program, a selection of enrichment classes are assembled twice a year (once in the beginning of the school year and once after the new year). Classes include visual arts, music, dance, chess, Lego engineering and many others. A catalog will be sent home via email prior to registration opening. This catalog will have course descriptions and information on how to register for individual offerings.
