AfterSchool Program

MISSION

The McGillis AfterSchool Program is a thriving environment that encourages social, creative, and academic growth in a post-school day setting. Our goal is to facilitate and support an environment that allows students to explore and grow beyond the classroom through exciting programing and authentic care for children.

PROGRAM

Our AfterSchool Program is available for students Kindergarten through 8th grade, Monday through Friday, from 2:45 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. Following the regular school day, participating students check in with AfterSchool Staff in the Dining Hall where they join their grade level group for the afternoon. Once grouped, students get a snack, head outside to play, or get ready to attend enrichment opportunities or afterschool foreign language classes. Those who choose to stay in the program for general activity time will take part in supervised homework time, independent reading time, indoor/outdoor games and art/craft projects.

COST/CHECK OUT POLICY

The cost is $8 per hour(billed at $2 per 15 minute increment). Billing time for lower school students begins at 3:30 P.M. & 4:00 P.M. for middle school students. Beyond these times your child will only be billed for the time they are signed into the program. Billing for the program is done on a monthly basis. Only authorized adults listed on our registration may check children out of the program. We require an email or phone call if someone other than an authorized adult is picking up your child.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

In addition to our basic AfterSchool program, a selection of Enrichment classes are assembled twice a year (once at the beginning of the school year and once after the new year). These exploratory classes are intended to spark curiosity, ignite creativity, and reinforce passions in visual/performing arts, S.T.E.M. and Outdoor Education. Students are picked up and dropped off by instructors in the Dining Hall . If students are not picked up by an authorized adult following class, they will be signed back into the AfterSchool Program. Information about Fall 2016 enrichment classes can be found using the link below.

These full days include group games/activities, themed art projects, and typically an off campus field trip. Your student does not need to be enrolled in the AfterSchool program to participate; however, enrollment in the regular AfterSchool Program does NOT automatically enroll your student in the All Day Care Program. Registration for these dates can now be completed electronically. An email with specific registration instructions for these dates is sent home prior to the first All Day Care session. Enrollment in these offerings is limited and handled on a first come basis so enroll early to secure a spot. Unfortunately, we cannot accept drop-ins or phone registrations for All Day Care.
