Melanie was raised in the rural mountains of North Carolina - she knows how to hoe a row, drive a tractor, and pull corn.  She loves reading, and historical fiction is her favorite genre.  In fact, she was a literature major in college and thought she was going to be a writer.  Turns out she loved her psychology classes even more, she was drawn to being in a profession where she can help people.

Melanie prefers to be outside hiking.  She loves to watch birds and is always trying to identify them, almost to the detriment of watching where she's going.  She also enjoys cooking savory food.  She will try any meat-free recipe and is intrigued to try ethnic dishes.
