Mini-Musings- Spring Sports

by Teresa Totorica

And that’s a wrap! Our 2018-19 Athletic season has come to an end and with it, our student athletes have had some wonderful experiences, strong showings of determination and dedication, and amazing wins along the way.

The winter season ended with all three of our boy’s basketball teams qualifying for their tournaments The A Team had a great season and went into the Championship game trying to defend their first place title from last year. Although they fell short in the game, it was a strong season against experienced competition; they can be incredibly proud of second place. The Boys B Team took first place in the league with a consistent and strong regular season, and an incredible over-time, come-from-behind win in their Championship game against a team that had beaten them twice in the regular season. The boys should be incredibly proud of their perseverance and ability to play focused in a charged and pressure-filled game. We look forward to watching this team play next year in the A division!

This spring season, our mountain biking, girl’s soccer, and cross country teams had to battle with unseasonably wet, windy, and cold weather. Games and meets were played in driving rain and wind. Our kids toughed it out in a way that was so gritty and strong! This year’s cross country team met, and even surpassed expectations with its best finish ever. Both Boy’s A and C Teams finished first place in the overall league standings as the the Girls’ C Team (we did not have an A girls’ team). So, of the four divisions in the league, we took first place in every division in which we had a team! The season was filled with personal bests and many first and second place individual finishes. Our A boy’s team in particular had consistent top ten finishers with Ezra S-R placing first in 5 out of 6 meets!

Congratulations to all the athletes who participated this year and we look forward to the 2019-20 athletic seasons!
