Favorite McGillis moment:

Every time a child's face lights up when they come into the library, I know I'm in the right place.

Defining moment that lead you to your career in education:

One day a man came into the bookstore I used to manage and asked me if I had a copy of Catcher in the Rye. I walked over to the fiction section and handed it to him, and he put it back on the shelf after reading the cover price, $6.99. I seriously considered going into the backroom and getting my wallet and buying the book for him. I had this powerful realization that my career path wasn't quite right. I was selling things that I wanted to give away for free. Librarian is the best job in the building. I'm living my dream!
